Obama suggests
business owners owe their success to government investment in
infrastructure and other projects in speech to supporters, saying 'if
you've got a business, you didn't build that.'
As business owner/developer, I am aghast that any human with a pulse could make a statement like this. The entrepreneurs deserve nearly no credit, and all credit should be given to the govertnment. What an incredible insult.
We need to cut government size by 40% immediately.
Anyone this out of touch with reality should be removed from office, without waiting for an election to do so.
Talk about misrepresenting what is said!!!!!
ReplyDeleteObama speaks of giving 95% of the US population a tax cut. Giving a tax credit to companies that create more jobs in America as opposed to other counties and providing health care to those who wish to participate in a large pool system.
ReplyDeleteMany conservatives have labeled Obama a socialist for his proposed policies. They state that Obama is trying to punish those who are successful with taxes. The thinking goes: in a freer market place, the rich will not be taxed anymore than than any other strata. My only problem with this conservative philosophy is that the rich are the ones best able to influence politicians and the media. The rich own the companies that provide most of the information. Therefore, the owning class has a disproportionately large influence on society. If you are part of the financial elite, your goal will most likely be to maintain your level of affluence by any means. This is how companies like Walmart are able to get local municipalities to do things such as waive local taxes when new stores are built (under the threat of building the store outside county borders). Once taxes have been lowered, Walmart drops the prices of their products, thus killing all of the local small businesses. This is not capitalism.Conservatives seem to be supporting the means of the powerful to hold on to their power, even if the powerful themselves are a very small group. Historical perspective: Prior to the Civil War, most white Southerners were poor. Their family farms could not compete with large plantations that utilized slave labor. However, the plantation owners were so powerful that they were able to convince the masses that slavery should continue to exist as it was evidence that being white meant inherent superiority, thus every white man had a shot at success. When Lincoln won the election, the poor white Southerners were so eager to defend their state against the tyranny of the large federal gov't that they fought along side the slaves that the plantation owners sent to fight in their place. They fought for the very system that was keeping them poor. This reminds me of the people that fight in Iraq and the large contracts awarded to Haliburton (Dick Cheyne fmr company). Conservatives state that they fight in Iraq out of patriotism. Why do I hear this term "socialist" on conservative talk radio and websites so much? Is this modern day McCarthyism? Does the same trick work over and over again in order to fool the people?
How can a direct quote be a misrepresentation?
ReplyDeleteHe blatantly insulted every business owner in America. One of the biggest problems we face is a government that is too big, and one that needs to suck up to big business for the "additional bonuses" that they NEED. Big Gov IS the main problem, along with corruption, excessive lobbying, and trampling the Constitution in cow dung.
Cut the labels, they don't help anything. Whilst the masses fight pack like over labels, the mobsters make off with the loot.
Why don't you spare me the drivel and recognize a snippet of a larger dialogue. The context in the speech is that no man is an island. If you need this explained to you, it's understandable why you choose to read an obvious portion of a man's speech and allow it to be twisted to suit your agenda. Step up, learn to not be an Idealogue and think for yourself, albeit in an educated manner, not hyperbole.
ReplyDeleteThe speech is in the context of "big Gov" is good, you are nothing without big Gov. Independence BAD! Dependence good! And shut up whilst we ram another QE 4,5,6,7,8,9 down the throat of the responsible savers to steal by inflation....and not just that....you better beg for QE, and not just that....you better mean it when you beg for it.
ReplyDeleteYou still waiting for that hope and change crap eh?
So just to be clear, the state of this country, is the fault of the Obama administration and no onus is on the previous 8 years? The state of this country has nothing to do with the Republicans snubbing anything the democrats want to pass b/c the bills are coming from Dems vs GOP? It's Horse SHEET!
ReplyDeleteRead comment below, I find that when one tells the truth, you don't need to remember that much, and you don't have to keep dancing around the story.
